Dove cottage and the Wordsworth Museum (Grasmere)

Recommended time - 1 hour

Why not visit the beautiful cottage of the great poet William Wordsworth based in the stunning village of Grasmere, where he lived between 1799 and 1808 which were believed to be his most prolific years as a poet. Also recommended with this stop is Rydal Mount and gardens also one of William Wordsworth homes.


Brantwood, John Ruskin's home (Coniston)

Recommended time - 1 hour

Visit the home of John Ruskin who was a famous writer, artist and thinker. Set in 250 acres of stunning landscape a perfect stop on any tour.  


Cumberland Pencil Museum (Keswick)

Recommended time - 1 hour 

The only attraction in the world devoted to the fascinating history of the pencil. This is an ideal stop for family's who are looking for something that's is both fun and educational.


Ravenglass and Eskdale Railways (Eskdale)

Recommended time - 1.5 hours 

Why not visit the miniature steam railway and enjoy a ride through stunning landscape. This destination is recommended with the stunning ride through Hardknott and Rhinos pass and a visit to Muncaster Castle due to its travel time to the destination.





Levens Hall and Gardens (Levens)

Recommended time - 1.5 hours 

Another stunning location where you can enjoy the sublime gardens of the Levens estate and visit the rich history and its sumptuous interior of the actual hall itself.


Coniston Priory (Ulverston)

Recommended time - 1.5 to 2 hours

A destination with a difference. The priory was founded by Augustinian monks in 1160 as a hospital for the poor, now being used for tours around this building is steeped in history. Also visit the Buddhist temple in the same grounds to learn more about different culture. The grounds of the priory are also stunning and very tranquil. This is an interesting and exciting stop.


Hill Top House , Beatrix Potter (Sawrey nr Hawkshead)

Recommended time - 1 to 1.5 hours 

The much loved Beatrix Potter recently made into a Hollywood blockbuster with the much loved Renee Zelweger playing the part of Miss Potter. This is the house that Beatrix once lived and where she was thought to have created so many of her most famous books and characters. This is a interesting house and is steeped in history and is a must see for anyone whether they be fans of Peter Rabbit or are interested in the local history.
